Who We Are
Call Box Helper is an Android application developed and operated as an independent project. References to "we," "us," or "our" in this policy refer to Call Box Helper. References to "you" or "your" refer to users of the app and visitors to this website.
You can contact us at info@callboxhelper.com with any privacy-related questions.
What Data We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the app and manage the beta program.
Through the beta signup form (website):
- First and last name
- Email address
- Device model and Android version
- Use case description (optional)
- Agreement to the Beta Tester NDA (timestamp)
Through the app — stored locally on your device only:
- Call box phone numbers you save in the app
- Labels you assign to those numbers
- Your configured unlock code (DTMF tone)
- App settings (timing preferences, vibrate toggle, etc.)
- A local call log of auto-answered and missed calls
Through Firebase Crashlytics (automatic, anonymous):
- Crash reports including device model, Android version, and app version
- Error logs that help us identify and fix bugs
Important: None of the locally stored app data — your saved numbers, unlock code, call log, or settings — is ever transmitted to us or any third party. It lives on your device and stays there.
What We Do NOT Collect
We want to be completely transparent about what we do not access, collect, or transmit:
✅ We do not collect your contacts. The app requests contacts permission solely to display the name of an incoming caller on your screen — the same way your default phone app does. Your contact list is never read, stored, or transmitted by us.
✅ We do not collect your call history. The app reads your device's native call log to display your recent calls inside the dialer. This data never leaves your device. We do not have access to your call history.
✅ We do not record calls. Call Box Helper does not record audio from any call. The microphone permission is not requested.
✅ We do not collect your location. The app does not request or use location data in any form.
✅ We do not sell your data. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.
✅ We do not serve ads. There is no advertising in Call Box Helper and no ad tracking of any kind.
App Permissions Explained
Call Box Helper requests the following Android permissions. Here is exactly why each one is needed:
- Phone / Call Management — Required to function as the default phone app and to automatically answer calls from your saved call box numbers. Without this, the core feature cannot work.
- Read Contacts — Used only to display a caller's name on the incoming call screen and in the dialer. We do not store or transmit your contacts.
- Read Call Log — Used only to display your recent calls in the built-in dialer. We do not store or transmit your call history.
- Notifications — Used to send you a notification when a gate is opened automatically or when you miss a call. Not used for marketing.
- Vibrate — Used to optionally vibrate the device when a call box call is auto-answered, so you know it happened.
- Bluetooth — Used to route call audio to a connected Bluetooth headset during calls. Not used to scan for or track nearby devices.
How We Use Your Data
The data we collect is used only for the following purposes:
- Beta signup information — to review your application, send you Google Play access instructions, and communicate with you about the beta program. Nothing else.
- Crash reports — to identify, diagnose, and fix bugs in the app. Reports are anonymous and contain no personally identifiable information.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, marketing, or any purpose beyond what is listed above.
Third Party Services
Call Box Helper uses the following third party services. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — Used for anonymous crash reporting to help us fix bugs. Data is processed by Google. Firebase Privacy Policy →
- Formspree — Used to process beta signup form submissions on this website. Your signup data is transmitted through Formspree to our email. Formspree Privacy Policy →
- Google Play — The app is distributed through Google Play. Google's privacy policies apply to the distribution and download process. Google Privacy Policy →
We do not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms beyond Crashlytics, or social media trackers.
Data Retention
Beta signup data is retained for the duration of the beta program. When the beta concludes, signup records will be deleted unless you have been converted to a registered user of the public release.
App data (saved numbers, call log, settings) is stored locally on your device. It is deleted when you uninstall the app. We have no copy of it.
Crash reports are retained by Firebase Crashlytics per Google's standard data retention policies.
You may request deletion of your beta signup data at any time by emailing info@callboxhelper.com.
